As a family-run company committed to supporting local businesses, we’re pleased that our network of Design Partners each remain independent experts in their field and have chosen Daval as a brand they love. We have more than 100 Design Partners based in showrooms across the UK, all bringing to life bespoke kitchens, bedrooms, home offices and living spaces for people like you.
So, allow us to introduce you to a few of them. First up, we meet Andrew Pope and his wife, Marie, of Spaces by Design.
From a beautiful showroom nestled in the heart of historic Stamford in Lincolnshire Andrew and Marie Pope create stunning kitchen, bedroom and bathroom designs.
They are highly experienced in turning awkward spaces into jaw-dropping interiors having spent 35 years between them working for a luxury yacht manufacturer where Andrew was head of design and Marie an interior designer.
They’ve taken their vast experience to build their new business, Spaces by Design, specialising in creating beautiful, bespoke interiors where every bit of space is utilised to complement the client’s lifestyle.
“We see a lot of customers who are struggling to see how their space can work for them. With our background and experience we are well placed to be able to help them achieve their dream kitchen, bedroom or bathroom,” Andrew said.
“We do a lot of virtual reality (VR) presentations in our showroom which allows the customer to really see how a project could look in their own home. We can take the footprint of a room or house and show a proposed project in 4D so a customer wearing VR goggles can actually walk around the virtual project and even open tall kitchen cupboards to check if they are too high for them. Buying a new kitchen is a big financial decision and the VR allows customers to see what their project will look like before they purchase.
“I think this will become the future in terms of how people buy kitchens or fitted bedrooms but at the moment there are not many retailers offering this service and certainly no others in our area.”
“We were drawn to Daval as a company because of the social and environmental aspects that they build into their designs.”
The kitchens and fitted bedrooms offered by Spaces by Design are exclusively from Daval Furniture.
Andrew said: “We were drawn to Daval as a company because of the social and environmental aspects that they build into their designs. Their kitchen Renzo, for example, is very important to us because of its environmental and sustainability credentials. It is a kitchen with a conscience.”
Daval’s Renzo is a cutting-edge kitchen that is kind to the environment without compromising on style. Every door is made from 100% recycled wood and customers can choose from a stunning charred Japanese wood effect door with a metallic tinge, a character oak effect that recreates the look of distressed wooden planks or a raw textured concrete effect that has been combined with a fabric for a unique finish.
“The other key factor for us is that Daval’s furniture is manufactured in Britain and we wanted to stay true to British design and push the ‘Made in Britain’ aspect.
“We are also very impressed by Daval’s customisation process which allows for truly bespoke furniture to fit the required space. We couldn’t see any other British manufacturers being able to offer this in the way that Daval does, where we can pretty much tailor as much of a design as we need to.”
So, what is Andrew’s top tip when choosing a new kitchen?
“Be realistic about what you can do with the space you have, not every kitchen has room for an island” he says. “You want the space to work hard for you, that maximises storage and with appliances positioned for flow, creating a kitchen that is effortless to cook in, sociable when it needs to be and something you should be very proud to own. Ultimately, it’s about balance, think about the amount of time you spend preparing, cooking, cleaning and socialising and prioritise accordingly.”
